Yoghurt

Plain, natural yoghurt with no added sugar is the only yoghurt you can use for this method. Make sure it contains live Acidophilus cultures (Lactobacillus Acidophilus). This acidophilus contains good bacteria that helps kill of the yeast. Now you can eat it of course which is recommended, at least a cup per day but it can also be used on and inside the vagina to restore healthy bacteria. The best thing is to dip a tampon into yoghurt and insert it into the vagina overnight. This should be done until the itching is gone. Alternatively you can use a tampon applicator and freeze the yoghurt inside. This frozen yoghurt can then be inserted into the vagina. Now it’s going to be cold but it will be very soothing to that burning and itching and wont take long to melt.

Garlic

Garlic is one of the best home remedies for yeast infections because it is a natural antifungal. Once again it can be added to the diet but just like with the yoghurt you can insert it into the vagina overnight. How is this done? Get a fresh clove of garlic and peel the papery white skin off it. Next wrap it in a small piece of gauze and tie it at the end with some waxed dental floss, this acts as a tampon string making it easy to insert and remove.

Teatree Oil

Teatree oil is also a natural antifungal that can be inserted into the vagina. It is strong so you’ll only need a few drops at a time. Get a tampon and coat the top with some petroleum jelly or other safe non scented lubricant the apply a few drops to that. Then insert the tampon being careful not to let the teatree oil touch the vulva on the way in as it may sting.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is a natural antifungal that contains three medium chain fatty acids including Caprylic Acid that kills the Candida Yeast bacteria. Women who live in tropical climates amongst humidity rarely get yeast infections. You would think they would due to the moist warm environment where they live, surely fungi and mold readily grow in those conditions. They do but women have a diet high in coconuts so don’t get yeast infections. Coconut oil is so versatile that you can cook with it as well as applying to the vagina where it is itching. It’s very soothing to the skin. It solidifies in colder temperatures but will quickly melt when placed in hot water (in a container). Just as the above methods work when placed on a tampon and inserted into the vagina, so does coconut oil. Soak a tampon in coconut oil and insert overnight.
